CHOOSING THE RIGHT ACCOMMODATION, ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS FOR YOUAccommodation
All the accommodation shown is approved by Irish Tourist Boards, either Failte Ireland or the Northern Irish Tourist Board (NITB). This means that the premises have met certain standards and requirements (e.g. health and safety, insurance coverage, quality of rooms and service).
ActivitiesAll the activities shown are conducted by businesses with the highest standards; all have appropriate insurance coverage and the necessary qualifications.
Some of the activities are quite physically challenging. If an activity is more demanding we give a general indication of what fitness level is appropriate but be realistic about your own abilities and kit yourself out with the right equipment. Our providers reserve the right to refuse to accept you if they consider it would be unsafe. If you're in any doubt about suitability, just contact us.
We charge a non-refundable booking fee of euros 4 per person for our service.
Check-in and checkout timesYou can check-in your accommodation normally between 2pm-6pm, unless otherwise agreed. Do check with your hosts first if you plan to arrive later or if you're delayed.
Check out times are generally between 10.00-10.30am.
You will be advised on your confirmation email if any premises have times other than those shown above.
You can use the search facility to find child-friendly premises or family choice attractions/activities. We have several attraction, activities and events which children and families will particularly enjoy plus some which are just not suitable for the very young and these are indicated.
Child reductions normally apply when children share with a parent or 3 or more children share one room in bed and breakfast accommodation. Full rates apply when one or two children occupy separate rooms. There are no reductions for self-catering accommodation as you pay for the whole premises rather than per person. Cots and high chairs are available in some places and these are shown in the premises descriptions - there may be a nominal charge for use.
Contact us if you want to double-check anything.
ComplaintsWe want to maintain high standards, so all your comments - whether good or bad - are welcome.
If a problem occurs with a provider, you must inform them immediately, and before departure, so that things can be put right. If this is not done then we cannot be held responsible for a complaint that was never made to the provider by you. If the provider doesn't resolve the problem to your satisfaction, you must also contact us immediately by telephoning +353 71 964 3963, so that we are given the opportunity to help. In the event that a complaint cannot be resolved at the time, you must write within 28 days of your return quoting your original booking reference and giving all relevant information. Please allow up to 14 days in order to obtain all the necessary documents from the provider to the issue can be resolved. Not following these steps will hinder our ability to resolve the problem and/or investigate it fully and in consequence, any right to compensation will be affected.
Ensuite and standard roomsAn ensuite room is a room with its own private facilities such as shower/bath, toilet and hand basin. A standard room does not have these private facilities. The bathroom is outside the room and shared with other guests.
Facilities for disabled guestsAccommodation, activities and attractions suitable for disabled persons have been included. However, we do recommend that you search for availability first then either use the special request section on the booking form if you have a particular question or contact us directly. We're happy to double-check your choices to ensure facilities meet your particular needs.
Finding your wayA large number of our providers have given directions to their premises which you'll find at the end of their descriptions. If there no directions are listed, please contact either the provider or us.
Our knowledge of the products and services on this site
We have visited all our providers at their premises and know each one personally. All the accommodation offered is approved to either Fáilte Ireland or Northern Ireland Tourist Board standards. Our activity providers are well established and hold appropriate qualifications and insurance.
PetsWe do offer some pet-friendly accommodation which you can find through the search facility. Be prepared though, in most cases animals must be kept outside the premises and, particularly if you're using self-catering accommodation, you might be asked to pay a higher deposit against damage.
Attractions and activities where you can take along dogs are included on our site too - but please remember to respect the country code and keep animals well under control.
Self-catering accommodationIt is usual for self-catering providers to ask for a deposit against damage when you arrive. You can also expect to pay an amount upfront for light or heating. Be prepared!
Single supplementsA single supplement will be charged when one person occupies a room for two or more persons. Please refer to the scale of charges for individual premises.
SmokingThere is a smoking ban in place in all areas of work, i.e. accommodation, pubs, clubs, restaurants, etc., in the Republic of Ireland. In Northern Ireland too, many accommodation and activity providers ban smoking on their premises. For the comfort of guests who come after you, please respect the rules and don't try to sneak a quick cigarette out of the window.
