Housed in a beautifully renovated model school, which dates back to 1862, The Model Arts and Niland Gallery is one of the premier arts centres in Ireland with an extensive programme of visual and performing arts.
This extraordinary building is home to the impressive Niland Art Collection,featuring John and Jack B. Yeats among others, and an enviable contemporary exhibition programme where previous artists have included Vivienne Roche, John Shinnors, Camille Souter and Barrie Cooke.
The centre has an award winning gourmet café; The Atrium, and a vibrant performring arts programme which includes an eclectic mix of jazz and contemporary music, comedy and drama, as well as classical music concerts. Art house film is screened each week in association with the Sligo Film Society and play host to a number of annual festivals. Integral to the programme is an extensive offering of educational opportunities for children and adults.
