Discover Lough Neagh

In the heart of Northern Ireland you will find Lough Neagh, the largest lake in Britain and Ireland. Lough Neagh captivates visitors with its tranquil atmosphere, un-spoilt scenery, secluded bays and skyward views. Lough Neagh is a haven for wildlife with many viewpoints around the shoreline. There is so much to see and do from history and heritage, visitor attractions to land and water based activities.

This is your chance to spend a leisurely weekend around Lough Neagh discovering the pleasures of country pursuits. Experience a whole range of activities and try your hand at fishing, clay pigeon shooting, archery and air gun shooting whilst staying in a lovely rural setting.  

Programme

Friday                    Arrive at Ballycanal Manor between 3.00pm and 9.30pm.

Saturday             
10.00am – 1.00pm
  

Introduction to fishing at Murloc Angling Centre, an easy walk from your accommodation. An hour of expert tuition is followed by fishing under your own steam until lunchtime. Your task is to catch your own lunch which you will then cook on the barbeque – James and Fred of Murloc Angling Centre assure us this is easily achievable for even absolute beginners and no one has gone hungry yet!  Includes personal tuition, equipment hire, rod licence, fishing ticket and buffet lunch.  

2.30pm-4.30pm        Introduction to clay pigeon shooting at Foymore Lodge Country Pursuits, one of Northern Ireland's newest and most modern clay pigeon shooting and country pursuits centre and just a short drive from Murloc Angling Centre. Includestuition and all equipment. Please note that clay pigeon shooting is only available for persons over the age of 18 years. Followed by an introduction to archery and air gun shooting.

Evening                   Return to accommodation. Spend your evening in Moira, an award winning Georgian village with two restaurants/pubs, coffee shops – just a ten-minute walk from Ballycanal Manor. 

Sunday                   Depart Ballycanal Manor by 10.30am.

11.00am-12.30pm     After a leisurely breakfast, it’s over to Antrim and time to take to the Lough for a relaxing boat trip. The Maid of Antrim is a beautifully restored classic boat o perating from Antrim on the North Eastern shore of Lough Neagh. This is a perfect way to get a different perspective of Lough Neagh and a great way to round off the weekend.


Murloc Angling Centre   32 Old Church Lane, Aghalee

Murloc Angling Centre aims to ensure that you experience a hassle free and enjoyable Angling Adventure. This new centre offers a  professional service using the highest quality tackle and equipment with a five-acre lake with three boats and a one-acre beginners lake. Fred Lockhart has over 30 years of angling experience and is one of the first in Northern Ireland to hold the National Angling Guide Certificate. All necessary advance arrangements - accommodation, permits, transport, equipment hire etc will be organised to meet your requirements. 

Foymore Lodge                    105 Dungannon Road, Portadown

Located in over fifty acres of mature land, Foymore Lodge offers a variety of clay pigeon shooting layouts to satisfy everyone from the most discerning clay pigeon shooter to the absolute beginner. Four Scottish Clay Target Association (SCTA) qualified instructors on-site to assist with your shooting problems and to provide training for novice shooters.  The Shooting Lodge at the facility offers a relaxed and comfortable environment in which register for shooting or enjoy coffee and snacks between shooting or browse through the gun shop and range of clothing and shooting accessories.

Ballycanal Manor                2a Glenavy Road, Moira

Ballycanal Manor provides 6 luxury, ensuite bedrooms. Each room has superb views overlooking the Lagan canal, rural countryside and equestrian farm.
A ll bedrooms at Ballycanal Manor are en suite, equipped with tea and coffee facilities, colour television and ample wardrobe space. Each of the rooms is individually decorated with full central heating. All rooms are non-smoking.
Early morning wake-up calls are available upon request. Along with the Master Bedroom, there are double, and twin rooms available. If Internet and e-mail access is required, this can be arranged. Family room, master suite and self-catering available on request.
