Discover Lough Neagh

In the heart of Northern Ireland you will find Lough Neagh, the largest lake in Britain and Ireland. Lough Neagh captivates visitors with its tranquil atmosphere, un-spoilt scenery, secluded bays and skyward views. Lough Neagh is a haven for wildlife with many viewpoints around the shoreline. There is so much to see and do from history and heritage, visitor attractions to land and water based activities.

Combine the thrills of rally driving and karting with a relaxing boat trip on Lough Neagh. The sound of gravel on the chassis, the whine of a competition tuned gearbox, and waves lapping gently against the sides of a restored classic boat  – life does not get any better than this … For families with children aged 8 and up this is a weekend experience they will never forget!

Programme

Friday           Arrive at Redbrick Country House between 4.00pm and 9.00pm.

Saturday
08.30am – 12.00pm

You will arrive at Superdrive with a friendly welcome from the Superdrive HQ Team.  Tea, coffee and biscuits are served on arrival and you will change into Sparco Rally suits and open-faced helmets.  You will then be introduced to your Rally Instructors and given a short briefing on the technical and safety aspects and handling of the cars. You will be booked in with a maximum of 9 other people in your session.

The group will then be split into two teams of five drivers, who will share a car and an instructor.  The instructors have an analysis sheet where they give you marks out of 10 on seven different aspects of your driving such as braking, steering, car sympathy and aggression etc. Each person will take it in turn to drive a series of stages in our rally prepared MKII Escorts.

Each person drives the amount of stages their chosen course entitles them to, until every person in each team has finished all of their stages.  Each stage is up to 8 laps of the ½ mile purpose built tarmac and gravel rally track.  Finally the instructors give a full de-briefing and present each driver with their personal driver analysis and certificate.

Drivers must be at least 17 and hold a provisional driving licence. No previous rally driving experience is necessary as highly experienced instructors (all current rally competitors), will navigate you through Superdrive’s purpose built gravel rally stage for maximum sideways action!

Whilst the adults are rally driving, a practice session is available on the Cadet Karts for kids 8-12 years and the Thunder Karts for kids and adults 13+. Imagine, it’s just you, your kart and the ticking clock. Either drive for fun or race against your own best time.

3.00pm – 4pm         After the high-octane morning, it’s over to Ballyronan and time to enjoy a more leisurely type of transport. The Maid of Antrim is a beautifully restored classic boat operating from Ballyronan on the Western shore of Lough Neagh. This is a perfect way to get a different perspective of Lough Neagh and a great way to round off the day.

Evening                   Return to accommodation. Spend your evening in with the restaurants and pubs of Portadown, just three miles from your accommodation.

Sunday                   Depart by 11.00am.

11.30am-12.30pm    Return to Superdrive for a karting session for all the family.
